CII should allow India’s infrastructure equipment rental companies to participate in EXCON
Indian infrastructure rental industry is constantly transforming and showcasing itself to interact with its stakeholders. In last few years the rental companies have started participating in infrastructure trade shows and construction equipment trade shows like baumaCONEXPO India, Earthcon and other shows as well.
But the rental companies are still waiting to be allowed to participate in Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)’s EXCON which is the largest Construction Equipment and Construction Technology Trade Fair in South Asia. This is despite the fact that rental industry is the most important stakeholder of construction equipment industry and many rental companies are members of CII. Rental industry is the largest buyer of construction equipments. The least CII can do is to allow those rental companies which are CII members to participate in EXCON without any discrimination.
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) should be fair towards rental companies and prevent itself from doing injustice to the rental industry, as CII aims to work to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering Industry, Government, and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes.
Prominent rental associations like Crane Owners Association of India (COAOI), Construction Equipment Rental Association (CERA), APAOI (Aerial Platform Association of India), COA (Crane Owners Association), TEMOWA (Tamil Nadu Earth Moving Equipments Owners Welfare Association) and other associations at regional level should talk to CII and ICEMA, and demand for allowing the rental companies to participate in India. It is important that they should take a stand as rental companies are the most important stakeholders.
CII and their affiliated body Indian Construction Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) should think futuristically as rental industry is their most important stakeholder and not their competitor. It is important that OEMs and equipment rental companies should complement each other and cater to the needs of construction sector together.
