GHMC to Launch H-CITI Program for Transforming Hyderabad’s Infrastructure

Hyderabad, 17 Feb 2025 (TRT Staff):  The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to unveil the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) program, aimed at boosting the development of Hyderabad as India’s leading IT hub. The ambitious initiative will see the execution of several large-scale infrastructure projects, including flyovers, underpasses, and road-widening efforts, designed to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity across the city.

The H-CITI program will comprise 38 projects, grouped into seven packages, with a total investment of Rs 5,942 crore.

In its first phase, the GHMC plans to release tenders for 16 crucial projects in February. This includes the construction of 10 flyovers and underpasses, stretching across 13.56 km, along with six major road widening projects covering 6.585 km. These efforts, spanning a combined 20.145 km, are estimated to cost Rs 2,400 crore.

In addition to improving traffic flow, the H-CITI initiative will incorporate advanced tunnel corridors and enhanced stormwater drainage systems to address flood management concerns and ensure long-term road sustainability. These forward-thinking measures are designed not only to meet the city’s immediate needs but also to future-proof its infrastructure, making Hyderabad even more attractive as a global business and technology hub.
