IndiaRentX Announced: India’s First Dedicated Equipment Rental Trade Fair
New Delhi, 24 Sep 2026: India’s equipment rental industry is finally getting a platform of its own. Messe Muenchen India will host IndiaRentX, the country’s first dedicated trade fair for the equipment rental industry, in 2027 in association with the Aerial Platform Association of India (APAOI).
The announcement was made by Bhupinder Singh, CEO, Messe Muenchen India. The exhibition will bring together rental companies, construction and infrastructure companies, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), financiers, vendors and other stakeholders on a common platform.
The exhibition comes as infrastructure companies face a fundamental question: how to expand equipment capacity without putting unnecessary pressure on capital.
“In my conversations with infrastructure leaders across India, one question comes up often: How do we scale capacity without putting unnecessary pressure on capital?” Singh said.
“That opens up the Big Equipment Decision: What to Own, What to Rent,” he added.
Singh said equipment ownership would remain essential for machines used consistently across projects and forming part of long-term capital expenditure planning. However, changing project requirements and tighter timelines are increasing the role of rental.
“Ownership will remain essential for equipment used consistently across projects, supporting long-term Capex planning. But as timelines tighten and requirements vary, rental is becoming an important way to add capacity, access specialized machines and respond faster to project demand while managing Opex more efficiently,” Singh said.
IndiaRentX will provide rental companies an opportunity to showcase their equipment fleets, capabilities and services while connecting them with construction companies, OEMs, financiers, component suppliers, technology providers and other vendors.
The exhibition also comes at a time when rental companies are playing an increasingly important role in India’s construction and infrastructure sector. By allowing contractors to access machinery without making the full upfront investment involved in ownership, rental provides greater flexibility when equipment requirements vary from project to project.
Despite this role, the equipment rental industry has traditionally received limited recognition compared with equipment manufacturers and construction companies.
Industry stakeholders estimate that rental companies provide more than 70 per cent of the equipment used by construction companies in India, underscoring their contribution to infrastructure development.
With major infrastructure projects requiring diverse fleets, specialized machinery and faster mobilization, rental companies have emerged as a critical link between equipment manufacturers and end users.
IndiaRentX is expected to give greater visibility to the rental ecosystem while creating a dedicated platform for discussions around equipment utilization, financing, fleet management, technology, safety, maintenance and the evolving rental model.
For an infrastructure sector seeking to balance rapid project execution with capital efficiency, the question of what to own and what to rent is becoming increasingly important. IndiaRentX will put the rental industry’s role in answering that question at the centre of the infrastructure equipment conversation.
