Tata Projects Appoints Sukumar Hebbar as MD & CEO

Mumbai, 07 Aug 2026, TRT Staff: Tata Projects Limited, one of India’s leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies, has appointed Sukumar Hebbar as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. He succeeds Vinayak Pai, who has led the company since 2022.

Announcing the leadership transition, the company said Hebbar’s appointment would further strengthen Tata Projects’ leadership team as it expands its presence across urban infrastructure, data centres and industrial EPC segments.

A seasoned infrastructure professional, Hebbar brings more than 35 years of experience in the engineering and construction sector. Prior to joining Tata Projects, he served as Senior Vice President and IC Head of the Transportation Infrastructure business at Larsen & Toubro (L&T), where he oversaw the Roads, Bridges & Formation and Railways portfolios.

During his tenure at L&T, Hebbar led the execution of several marquee infrastructure projects, including the Ram Mandir, Navi Mumbai International Airport and Kartavya Bhawan, reinforcing his reputation for delivering complex, large-scale developments.

Commenting on his appointment, Hebbar said, “Tata Projects has built a formidable reputation as India’s technology-led infrastructure builder. I am excited to join the team at a time when the sector is central to India’s growth story, and to work with our people to deliver projects that are safer, faster and more sustainable. My priority is the execution of complex infrastructure projects while expanding our capabilities in data centres and sustainable energy—areas where I see significant headroom for Tata Projects to lead.”

Hebbar holds a degree in Architecture from Mysore University and is an alumnus of INSEAD’s Advanced Management Programme in Organisational Leadership. He began his career in 1990 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee and has since built an extensive track record in infrastructure development and project execution.

His appointment comes at a time when Tata Projects is sharpening its focus on technology-driven infrastructure, sustainable energy and digital infrastructure, positioning itself to capitalise on India’s growing investments in these sectors.
